>Wearable Pop Art
Mette dresses for girls

Designed and sewn by Kristin Rasmussen in Vancouver, Mette clothing for little
girls are produced in small quantities. A clear fan of vintage vibe, Mette dresses
are thorougly classic yet modern. For little Audrey Hepburns in the making, we
love this A-line dress, which is constructed in soft black linen and cotton blend.
The bold geometric front panel in vintage linen is from a fellow Etsy-er ('handmadebybrenda'
). Kristin's craftsmanship can be seen in her attention to detail, such as this
dress' invisible back zipper and self-bias hem. Go ahead, throw your little one
a tea party.

> Green With Envy
Eco-friendly Clutch, Blankie & Bib
Tired of carrying a diaper bag when all you need is a little something to
change baby on the go? We know what you mean. And so does mom and designer Joya
Mukerjee Logue. Her love of bold prints, classic styling and--most imporantly--modern
function has led to her creation of the joyababy Collection. It not only includes
a dashing and eco-friendly diaper clutch but also matching blankie and bib, which
feature colorfully embroidered Indian elephants. The clutch is all that and a
bag of chips. Designed to hold three diapers, it includes an extra pocket behind
a wipe envelope, a changing mat, and an antique brass hardware and wrist strap
with signature elephant charm. So cute, we might just find a use for it beyond
the diaper years.

at your hotel - poolside and on the rooftops.

On the other side of town, the Mondrian (8440 Sunset Blvd., West Hollywood;

Miami Beach; 305-535-8088; www.sagamorehotel.com) monthly penthouse event at Above

drums and hookahs are featured at “Moroccan Thursdays” where celebrity
hosts and DJs rotate throughout the summer.
Things get spicy in Mexico where tequila sunset parties happen every Sunday
at the Hotel Deseo (5th Ave and Calle 12, Playa Del Camen; 52-984-879-6320; www.hoteldeso.com)
featuring international DJs, a special tapas menu, and B-movies projected in their

> Towel Off
Speesees Hooded Towels
Rachel Pearson had the kind of upbringing most children fear:
no TV, no brand toys, and all natural foods at lunchtime (i.e. no fruit rollups).
That lead to launching speesees (how children might spell "species"
if they could spell) when her friends started having kids. It's no surprise that
the MO for Rachel and her new company was to be fun, fair and organic in the products
they make and how they do business. Check out this buttery soft hooded towel.
Made of 100% organic interlock cotton and featuring a terry backside, it's the
kinds of towel your kid will want to be wrapped up in after a bath. Or heck, even
when getting dry is not part of the equation.

{ Swim Fit } |
|
|
|
|
|
| Don't let the heat and humidity keep you from excercising. Swimming
is the answer to the summer work-out doldrums, especially if you're pregnant.
In fact, because water imparts a soothing weightlessness, swimming is one of the
most beneficial and comfortable forms of exercise you can do. Indeed, the pool
environment allows for a total-body workout. Read on, to learn more. |
|
Q Is it OK to swim while pregnant?
A Swimming and other water-based activities
are among the best things a pregnant woman can do for herself. Being in the water
is one of the best things you can do while pregnant, whether for exercise or pure
relaxation. Because swimming is easy on your joints and muscles you can maintain
a fairly high level of intensity without straining. If swimming isn't your forte,
you can use a flotation device and stay in the shallow end of the pool.
|
|
Q What water temperature is best for swimming
while pregnant? And is is really a work-out?
A Avoid water that's too hot or cold.
A temperature between 80° F and 84° F is ideal. Remember, feeling relaxed
and comfortable is what you're aiming for. Even as it soothes you, the pool environment
allows for a total-body workout. Because water provides 12 times the resistance
to your muscles as does air, swimming offering a strength-training benefit similar
to lifting light weights.
|
Q Can chlorine
in the pool hurt my baby?
A No. The natural barriers in your
body--the cervix and amniotic sac-- protect your baby from external substances
such as chlorine in a pool or even soapy bath water. As always, you should consult
with your doctor before doing any excercise program. |
Q What are
the benefits of swimming?
A Exercising in water helps reduce
edema (swelling). Most pregnant women complain of swelling in the legs, particularly
in the later part of pregnancy. The increased pressure of being under water tends
to squeeze excess fluids into the bloodstream so they can be excreted. Water greatly
reduces the usual stress on your musculoskeletal system and supports the weight
of the fetus, thus taking a load off your lower back. Water also makes it easier
for the heart to pump blood and takes pressure off your bladder. |
Q
What if my water breaks while I'm in the pool?
A If your water breaksy you will feel
the fluid leaking even if you are in the pool or a bathtub and should contact
your doctor immediately. Take every precaution to get in and out of the pool carefully.
Losing your footing on slippery tiles are greater than the likelihood of any complications
resulting from your water breaking while you swim--so use caution! |

{ Audi Q5 } |
|
Driving an Audi Q5, which sits
lower than your typical SUV, feels akin to big-wave surfing with Laird Hamilton.
Powered by a 270-horsepower FSI direct injection 3.2-liter, the spry mini-SUV
screams from 0 to 60 in 6.9 seconds but the Q5’s handling is so sweet you’ll
be in perfect harmony with the car. The crossover’s fantastic options include
an enormous panoramic sunroof and a Bang & Olufsen stereo system. Also inside
is an uncannily intelligent MMI (Multi-Media Interface) that features traffic-sensing
route guidance and voice command. The driver can state a fact, such as “I’m
hungry,” and the car will respond in kind by presenting a list of restaurants
in the area. Other commands recognized are “I need gas” and “I
need money.” The Q5 does everything but spit out 100-dollar bills.
